You can't lower your maximum bid. You may be able to retract your bid. However, a bid is a binding contract and members are only permitted to retract bids in very specific circumstances, for example:

• You made a mistake when entering your bid, e.g. €50 instead of €5.
• The item's description changed significantly after you placed your bid.
